There are no capital deployment obligations and no pressure to invest in any deal simply because it was offered.
Deal Forums
When a company enters our member-facing process, members are invited to a deal forum: a structured live presentation where founders engage directly with the community.
Every company that reaches a deal forum has already cleared a rigorous multi-stage internal screening process. Our principals evaluate each opportunity on clinical rationale and translatability, founder credibility, regulatory and reimbursement plausibility, and competitive positioning. By the time a company presents to the group, it has earned its place on the strength of its underlying evidence and overall investment case.
These sessions are substantive and interactive. Founders present to an audience of clinicians, scientists, operators, and professionals from a range of backgrounds, and the dialogue that follows is focused on what matters. The goal is clarity about the science, the opportunity, and the risks, not a sales pitch. Members participate in the discussion at whatever level feels right for them.
Educational Discussions
We offer periodic educational discussions on the topics that matter most in ophthalmic angel investing. These sessions are open to all members, including Observers, at no cost.

In-Person Gatherings
We bring members together in person at major national ophthalmology meetings and at curated member gatherings. These are intimate, peer-driven settings that strengthen relationships and extend the community well beyond any single deal or presentation.
The ophthalmology meeting calendar provides a natural rhythm for the community. For members who already attend these meetings, EyeSci Angels provides a context and a reason to connect more deliberately around shared investing interests.
Portfolio Company Updates
Members who invest in a company through EyeSci Angels receive periodic updates covering clinical, technical, regulatory, and financing progress. These updates provide a clear picture of how the company is executing, including developments that are material to the investment case.
Deal leads maintain ongoing dialogue with portfolio companies, monitor progress against clinical, regulatory, and financing milestones, and surface material developments to members as they arise. The goal is informed engagement, not passive ownership.
